Why go
The colour of the sand is the bay's clearest distinction, reflected in its Maltese name, Ir-Ramla l-Ħamra. The beach lies below Xagħra between Marsalforn and San Blas, so it fits naturally with the village's prehistoric and rural heritage stops. The enclosing slopes give the shoreline a strong sense of place.
What to look for
- Reddish-coloured sand
- The broad northeast-facing bay
- Slopes below Xagħra
Useful to know
- Combine Ramla with Ġgantija or Ta' Kola Windmill in Xagħra.
- Choose beach time as a separate part of the day rather than a rushed museum interval.
