Why go
The Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engraving and Museo Ralli offer different artistic starting points: Spanish prints in an old hospital, or Latin American and European art west of the centre. Cortijo Miraflores adds rural history, while the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella and Constitution Park auditorium shift attention towards live performance.
The full story
Cultural venues reveal several versions of Marbella. Hospital Bazán places contemporary printmaking inside a former charitable institution, allowing art and architecture to share the visit. At Museo Ralli, the emphasis crosses continents, with Latin American and European works and a thread of Surrealism running through the collection. Cortijo Miraflores changes the subject from fine art to the town’s working landscape. Its preserved olive-processing machinery and archaeological displays recall activities that preceded the coastal tourism boom. The former estate also serves as an exhibition and cultural setting. Performance has its own spaces, including the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella, the Constitution Park auditorium and the Ingenio Cultural Centre. These venues are a more reliable starting point for planning than assuming a particular festival returns on its former dates. Local heritage also has advocates: the Cilniana Association has worked to protect and promote Marbella’s historic environment.
