From the Marbella World / Stories
From Sierra Blanca to the Artola dunes
Marbella rises from sandy coastal plains through low hills to Sierra Blanca, with the Artola dunes preserving a different landscape at its eastern end.
The skyline helps distinguish the mountain summits: La Concha stands to the west, Cruz de Juanar to the east in Ojén, and Lastonar between them. At 1,270 metres, Lastonar is the highest of the three. The coast offers a gentler contrast, with broader beaches east of the fishing port towards Cabopino.
What to look for
Low hills between roughly 100 and 400 metres separate the plains from the steeper mountain slopes.
The coastal plains formed from material eroded from the mountains.
Dunas de Artola interrupts the developed coast near its eastern end.
