Getting around Monaco
Monaco's buses, rail station and pedestrian routes connect a compact country with sharp changes in height. Public transport is useful when a short map distance would mean a steep climb.
Why go
The underground Monaco–Monte Carlo station links the principality to towns along the Riviera. Local buses help connect the Rock, Monte Carlo and other districts, while walking remains useful within each area. If you are arriving by car during a major event, plan around congestion and use a public car park rather than expecting easy street parking.
Useful to know
Check the current bus map and fares before travel; use a bus for a climb you would rather avoid on foot.
From the rail station, confirm which exit best serves your first stop because Monaco's streets sit at different levels.
For a flight, plan your transfer from Nice airport separately; Monaco has no conventional airport.
