Why go
Surface transport matters for estates, parks and final connections that rail does not solve directly. The durable method is to verify the stop direction, follow live official information and leave a buffer when the route crosses congested central avenues. A rail-first journey usually protects the schedule.
The full story
Moscow's buses connect neighborhoods, Metro stations, railway hubs and destinations beyond comfortable walking range. They are especially useful for the final part of a trip to a park, estate or venue. A stop may serve routes traveling in several directions, so match the destination shown on the vehicle and map rather than standing at the nearest pole. Traffic makes surface travel less predictable than the Metro, particularly around central rings and major events. Route numbers, intervals and payment arrangements change, and old trolleybus descriptions no longer provide a safe planning basis. Use the official transport planner shortly before travel and check for diversions. Board with valid fare media, keep aisles clear and follow local priority-seat rules. When a journey offers both rail and bus, use the Metro for the long cross-city segment and the bus for the shorter connection. This reduces exposure to congestion without excluding areas outside the rail network.
