Why go
Marienplatz, the Residenz and English Garden reveal three different scales of Munich in one progression: medieval civic core, royal complex and expansive urban park. The complete group is ambitious, so prioritize those anchors and treat the Glockenspiel, Cuvilliés Theatre and Brienner Straße as conditional additions. This ordering also keeps the longest open-air stretch for the finish, when leaving the park early causes no backtracking through the old town or abandoned timed interior.
Useful to know
- Begin around Marienplatz, cross the Residenz quarter on foot and finish in the English Garden.
- Choose either the full Residenz interior or Cuvilliés Theatre when time is limited; do not assume both are quick.
