Bawbawgyi Stupa
Bawbawgyi is a tall cylindrical Pyu stupa in the Sri Ksetra archaeological landscape near Pyay. Its early form contrasts with the later temples elsewhere in Myanmar; restoration work may affect close viewing.
Its simple, early form helps show a different architectural era from Bagan’s later temples. UNESCO documentation places Bawbawgyi among Sri Ksetra’s notable cylindrical pagodas. A May 2026 government report describes earthquake restoration, so check with the site authority before approaching and view only from areas confirmed safe.
