Thatbyinnyu Temple
Thatbyinnyu Temple is one of Bagan’s towering brick monuments near the old city wall. Its layered silhouette stands out among nearby shrines, while restoration means visitor access must be confirmed locally.
Why go
Its layered height and mass distinguish it from nearby Ananda and the smaller shrines. A February 2026 government feature names it among Bagan monuments, while a later ministry report confirms restoration activity. Plan an exterior architectural visit and check the current repair perimeter before approaching the structure.
What to look for
Study the temple’s stepped silhouette from outside.
Compare its scale with the neighboring Old Bagan monuments.
Useful to know
Restoration was still reported in late 2025; do not assume interior or terrace entry.
Allow about 30–45 minutes for an exterior stop.
