Getting around Naples
The historic centre rewards walking, but Naples also uses metro lines, buses, funiculars and suburban rail to cross a city of steep changes in level. The port connects city travel with island departures.
Start with the geography of the trip: Napoli Centrale at Piazza Garibaldi is the main rail arrival point; the funiculars help with uphill districts; and the port is the departure area for sea crossings. Metro stations can be sights in their own right because several feature art and distinctive architecture.
