Parco Virgiliano

Terraces on Posillipo look toward Nisida and the Phlegraean coast. The park is best for a clear-weather walk, with views that differ from central Naples’s Vesuvius-facing waterfront.

Parco Virgiliano

Why go

Parco Virgiliano opens the western side of Naples’s geography. From its elevated paths, the coast and islands spread out in a direction you cannot read as clearly from the old center. Give yourself enough time to move between terraces rather than stopping at the first railing.

What to look for

  • Terraced lookout paths
  • Views toward Nisida and the western coast

Useful to know

  • Set aside travel time to Posillipo; this is not a quick detour from the Decumani.
  • Check park gate hours before a sunset visit.
