Changu Narayan
This ridge-top Vishnu sanctuary holds some of the valley's oldest surviving inscriptions and carved stonework. Allow a separate transfer from central Bhaktapur; the ridge is not a short city walk.
The temple courtyard brings carved stone and Vishnu imagery together with early inscriptions that help date the valley's religious history. Looking closely at those surviving details makes the separate ridge journey worthwhile. It is best treated as a dedicated visit from Bhaktapur, with enough time to see the sanctuary rather than just its hilltop position.
