Gibson Hall

Gibson Hall is Tulane’s 1894 Uptown landmark, a stone academic building worth a brief exterior look as part of a campus or St. Charles Avenue walk.

Gibson Hall

Why go

The building gives Tulane’s campus a clear architectural front. Its heavy stone, arched openings and central position in the original group contrast with the live oaks and open lawns nearby. Because it remains a working administration building, the strongest dependable experience is outside, where its role in the campus plan is easy to read.

What to look for

  • Richardsonian Romanesque stonework and deep arches
  • The central position within Tulane’s original entrance group
  • Views across St. Charles Avenue toward Audubon Park

Useful to know

  • Plan an exterior stop unless you have university business or a scheduled campus visit.
  • Stand back near St. Charles Avenue to see the full three-building composition.
  • Pair it with Tulane’s quads and Audubon Park; the building alone needs only a short pause.
