Why go
Nuremberg families donated the chancel windows between the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. Their survival is striking because the church suffered serious fire damage in 2014; the windows had been removed for conservation and escaped the blaze. The rebuilt church reopened in 2018, adding a recent chapter to a building that also served the Meistersingers as a theatre after the Reformation.
What to look for
- Medieval stained glass fills the chancel windows.
- The rebuilt church shows the work completed after the 2014 fire.
Useful to know
- Confirm current visitor access with the parish before going inside.
- Give the stained glass priority if interior access is available.
