Gatorland: marsh and white alligators
Gatorland puts Florida reptiles at the center of the visit, with a breeding marsh, white alligators and shows in a park south of central Orlando.
Why go
The breeding marsh and its boardwalk shift the experience from staged encounters toward watching alligators in a wetland setting. Leucistic alligators, which have unusually pale coloring, are another distinctive sight. Founded by Owen Godwin in 1949, Gatorland also has a longer local history than many of the region’s theme parks.
What to look for
Watch the breeding marsh from its boardwalk.
Look for the pale leucistic alligators in White Gator Swamp.
Consider the Gator Jumparoo show for a different view of the animals.
Useful to know
Allow a few hours for the marsh, animal areas and a show.
Expect outdoor heat and weather exposure along the boardwalk; check the show schedule on arrival.
