St Barnabas Church, Jericho
Jericho’s striking Victorian church offers a spacious, richly decorated interior and a tall Italianate campanile amid the former industrial quarter just west of central Oxford.
St Barnabas gives a different architectural chapter from Oxford’s medieval colleges. Its scale, arches and Venetian-style tower reflect the Oxford Movement and the nineteenth-century growth of Jericho, making it a useful stop on a canal-side walk through a former working neighbourhood.
