Why go
This day gives Seberang Perai its own identity instead of treating it only as the view across from George Town. Begin around Butterworth's ferry and rail connections, then move inland to Bukit Mertajam for an older town centre and a different urban scale. Mengkuang Dam provides the green pause and walking space. Nibong Tebal is a longer optional extension for travelers interested in the southern mainland's small-town and river landscape. Use a car or planned transfers, check reservoir access, and skip the final extension if traffic or weather reduces the value of the extra distance.
