Driving to Porto
Driving suits trips that combine Porto with Lisbon, Braga, Aveiro or the Douro interior, but city traffic can make a car slower than expected.
Why go
Porto sits at the meeting point of routes from Lisbon, Aveiro, Braga, Viana do Castelo and Vila Real. The VCI/A20 links major parts of the city, while the A41 forms an outer ring. This is useful when Porto is one stop on a wider road trip.
Useful to know
Allow extra time when driving through the city at rush hour.
Use the VCI/A20 to connect major parts of Porto, and the A41 for the outer ring.
