St Michael’s Cathedral
Twin towers make the Catholic cathedral one of the clearest landmarks in Qingdao’s old town. Stop for its large facade and the contrast with surrounding streets.
The cathedral’s paired spires and broad front give you an immediate sense of its scale. It belongs to a later chapter of Qingdao’s church architecture, with construction in the 1930s. Spend time comparing the symmetry and stone details outside; interior access should follow the cathedral’s current visiting arrangements.
