Why go
This route is for visitors who like to understand a city on foot without filling the day with long admissions. Begin in Roma Street Parkland while the outdoor paths are more comfortable. Continue to Brisbane City Hall to look at the civic building, then go inside the Museum of Brisbane for exhibitions about the city. Those two visits share a building but reward different kinds of attention. The City Botanic Gardens make a calm final stretch beside the river. Allow extra time for the museum if an exhibition catches your interest, and shorten the garden visit in hot or wet weather.
