Why go
It offers a much less built-up island setting close to the Gold Coast, with the Broadwater on one side and the Coral Sea on the other. The conservation park and other island facilities have different access conditions, so the experience depends on where the boat drops you.
What to look for
- Compare the sheltered Broadwater edge with the exposed ocean shore.
- Look for dune, melaleuca wetland and remnant rainforest habitats.
- Notice the island's position across the water from the Gold Coast mainland.
Useful to know
- Arrange boat transport to the part of the island you intend to visit; there is no public vehicle barge.
- Check access and facilities for your exact landing point, especially if mobility is limited.
- Bring what you need for the chosen park section rather than relying on resort facilities elsewhere.
