Ancient Kamiros
Walk the excavated streets, houses, agora and waterworks of ancient Kamiros. Its sloping site above the sea shows how one of Rhodes’ three ancient cities was laid out.
Kamiros lets you read an ancient city through its surviving plan rather than a single monument. Follow the streets uphill and compare the houses with the agora and water system to see how daily life and civic space were arranged. The open hillside also makes the city’s relationship with the coast visible, adding context to Rhodes’ three ancient urban centres.
What to look for
An excavated city climbs a slope above the sea, with streets, houses, an agora and waterworks still legible.
Kamiros makes the scale of one of Rhodes’ three ancient cities tangible without requiring an imagined reconstruction.
