The walls give Rhodes Town its physical outline. Walk beside the gates and moat to understand how the fortified town was enclosed, then look back from outside to see the height and continuity of the defenses. This perspective adds something a visit to a single monument cannot: the relationship between the medieval streets, the palace and the barrier built around them.
What to look for
The gates interrupt long stretches of defensive wall.
The moat makes the height of the fortifications easier to read.
Useful to know
Follow an exterior stretch as well as entering Old Town through a gate.
