Rumbula Memorial
Rumbula is a forest memorial at one of the Holocaust’s major killing sites. The marked graves and symbolic central space make this a serious destination, not a casual roadside stop.
The path into the memorial leads from historical explanation toward a central Star of David design and mass-grave markers. These physical traces help visitors understand what happened here in 1941. It is distinct from the city’s Jewish museums and deserves enough time for the journey and reflection.
What to look for
The central memorial space uses a Star of David ground plan.
Markers identify mass graves within the forest site.
Useful to know
Allow travel time from central Riga as well as time on site.
