Why go
Parque Fundadores is a public beachfront square in Playa del Carmen, anchored by the Portal Maya sculpture. The artwork and open space make it a useful place to orient yourself between town and shore. Civic performances can add another layer when they happen, but the square and its coastal setting are enough to make a short stop worthwhile on their own.
