Chkalov Stairs
Use the monumental staircase to connect the upper city with the Volga embankment. The full climb is demanding, so a shorter look from the top is a valid choice.
The figure-of-eight plan turns a change in elevation into a designed public monument. Starting near the Kremlin, the stairs descend toward the river and include observation platforms on the slopes. The architecture and outlook justify a stop even if you do not walk the entire staircase; allow extra effort and time if climbing back up.

Useful to know
Decide whether to descend the full staircase or stay near the upper viewpoints.
Allow for the climb back if you return to the upper city.
