Kunstkamera
Choose this museum for anthropology, ethnography and the history of collecting. Some displays concern anatomy, so consider the interests and sensitivities of your party.
The Kunstkamera developed from Peter the Great's collections and became Russia's first public museum. Its building on the University Embankment is also a surviving example of Petrine Baroque. The collections connect early scientific curiosity with materials from many cultures, offering a different museum experience from the city's art galleries and former palaces.
