Cross the river to see a different coastal face of San Sebastián. Zurriola opens towards the Bay of Biscay, while the Kursaal marks the beach edge. Inland streets occupy ground that developed from nineteenth-century workshops and later housing. It makes an easy contrast with the sheltered La Concha side of town.
What to look for
Zurriola is the open-coast beach near the river mouth.
The Kursaal stands beside the beachfront.
The former Chofre bullring site became housing after its 1973 demolition.
Useful to know
Cross from the centre at the river mouth, then follow the beachfront before turning into Gros streets.
