María Cristina Bridge
This Urumea crossing rewards a slow look at its four horse-topped obelisks. It also makes a natural link between the city centre and the railway station area.

Crossing the bridge is a quick way to notice the decorative side of San Sebastián’s early twentieth-century expansion. Golden horses crown its four obelisks, while dragons and sea creatures appear in the lamps and railings. The bridge replaced an earlier wooden crossing toward the station and opened in 1905.
What to look for
Four obelisks at the bridge ends carry golden horses.
Dragons and maritime figures appear in the lamps and railings.
The crossing gives a close view along the Urumea.
Useful to know
Cross on foot and pause at both ends to see the obelisks and smaller metalwork.
Pair it with a riverbank walk or a visit to nearby Tabakalera.
