The work changes as wind and waves meet the western end of the bay. Chillida’s steel forms are fixed into the rocks, while Luis Peña Ganchegui’s plaza draws you close to the water and its wave-driven vents. Look at the three pieces as one composition across the shoreline.
What to look for
Three large steel forms are anchored to separate coastal rocks.
Wave-driven vents in the plaza release air and sometimes water.
The site sits beyond Ondarreta at the western edge of the bay.
Useful to know
Approach along Ondarreta and assess sea conditions before entering the exposed plaza.
Check the official access guidance if the exposed sculpture corner may be difficult for your group.
