Fremont
Fremont is a former city turned Seattle neighborhood along the Lake Washington Ship Canal, known for public art, small parks and an intentionally playful streetscape.
Why go
Choose Fremont for a neighborhood walk that combines the Lake Washington Ship Canal with eccentric public landmarks. Annexed to Seattle in 1891, it retains a distinct identity expressed in its signs, sculptures and informal gathering places. The Burke-Gilman Trail passes nearby, while Gas Works Park and several smaller parks make it easy to combine art, water and open space.
