West Seattle
West Seattle is the part of Seattle west of the Duwamish River, defined by shoreline parks, broad water views and its former identity as an independent town.
Why go
Choose West Seattle when you want to move from downtown's dense waterfront to beaches, parks and wider views across Elliott Bay and Puget Sound. It was incorporated as an independent town in 1902 and annexed by Seattle in 1907. Alki Point, Lincoln Park and the Olympic Mountains across the water give the area a strong geographic coherence.
What to look for
West Seattle encompasses Seattle's Delridge and Southwest districts west of the Duwamish River.
West Seattle was annexed by Seattle in 1907 after five years as an independent town.
