Burke-Gilman Trail
Burke-Gilman Trail is a multi-use rail trail that links Ballard, the Ship Canal, Lake Union, the University of Washington and northeast Seattle on a largely level route.
Why go
The Burke-Gilman Trail is the practical backbone for a long bicycle ride or walk through Seattle's northern waterfront geography. It follows a former railroad corridor past the Fremont Cut, Lake Union and the University of Washington before continuing toward Lake Washington. Its generally level alignment makes it an efficient contrast to Seattle's hillier street routes.
