Space Needle
The Space Needle is Seattle Center's 1962 World's Fair observation tower, offering a high-level view that makes the city's bay, lakes, hills and mountains legible.
Why go
Go to the Space Needle for orientation as much as skyline views. Built for the 1962 World's Fair, the tower stands at Seattle Center and its observation deck looks across downtown, Elliott Bay, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, and the surrounding waterways. It is most useful early in a trip, when the panorama helps organize later neighborhood visits.
