Streissguth Gardens
Streissguth Gardens is a family-maintained hillside garden on northwest Capitol Hill, where paths, cultivated beds and a thinned canopy open occasional views toward Lake Union.
Why go
Streissguth Gardens is a small-scale alternative to Seattle's formal parks, built gradually from adjoining hillside lots beginning in the 1960s. Its trails move through perennial, shrub, berry and vegetable plantings, while the southern lots connect to the St. Mark's Greenbelt. Visit for the texture of a cultivated hillside and a sense of neighborhood stewardship.
