Why go
The choice of crossing affects where you arrive in Shenzhen. Lo Wu and Luohu form one rail-linked pair; the Lok Ma Chau rail branch serves the Futian crossing. A similarly named road crossing at Huanggang is a different route. Match the port to your first Shenzhen district, then check current immigration rules and transport service.
The full story
Start with the Shenzhen district you need, then work backward to the border. A traveler bound for Luohu may choose the Lo Wu–Luohu rail crossing, while someone heading toward Futian may find the Lok Ma Chau station–Futian crossing more direct. The names can be confusing: the Lok Ma Chau rail route and the road approach associated with Huanggang should not be treated as one entrance. Shenzhen Bay and other land ports create further options, each with its own onward journey. These are cross-boundary immigration checkpoints, so allow time for formalities and keep travel documents ready. Check the currently operating port, its opening period and the onward connection before departure; old rail termini, bus routes and fare figures are especially prone to change.
Useful to know
- Verify entry eligibility and the chosen port’s current opening information with official authorities.
- Check the onward route from the Shenzhen side, not only the journey to the Hong Kong border station.
