Why go
The contrast is the appeal: Shenzhen Golf Club sits amid Futian’s built-up core, while Mission Hills is associated with a much larger golf complex outside the center. Shahe and Xili add Nanshan options. These are separate courses rather than stops on a sightseeing circuit, and access arrangements should guide the choice.
The full story
Golf in Shenzhen developed alongside the city’s rapid expansion. The older account of Shenzhen Golf Club places its establishment in 1985, when the area was much less built up; today its Futian setting puts a course against an urban backdrop. Mission Hills in Guanlan presents a different scale and requires a trip away from the city core. Shahe and Xili are named Nanshan alternatives, which may be more convenient for someone staying on that side of Shenzhen. The courses are best compared by geography and the kind of setting you want, not by old rankings or tournament claims. Check each club’s current visitor access, booking rules and transport before planning a round. Some may operate as private clubs, and historical descriptions are no substitute for present terms.
Useful to know
- Check current visitor access and booking rules with the chosen club.
- Allow for a separate trip to Guanlan if considering Mission Hills from central Shenzhen.
