Sha Tau Kok, Hong Kong
Sha Tau Kok is a border-area town in Hong Kong’s northeastern New Territories, with a different access regime from nearby mainland Shatoujiao. Plan it as a permitted excursion.
Why go
The town offers a close view of how the Hong Kong–Shenzhen boundary shaped local streets and movement. Its frontier setting and quieter townscape reward an interest in border history more than a conventional city stroll. The separate rules around nearby Chung Ying Street also show why a visit here needs careful planning before crossing from Shenzhen.
