Shenzhen Museum of History and Folk Culture
Start here to understand the city beyond its towers. Shenzhen Museum’s Civic Center galleries trace older settlement, recent change and local customs in one indoor visit.
Why go
The museum’s Ancient Shenzhen, Modern Shenzhen and Shenzhen Folk Culture displays give the city a longer timeline than its Special Economic Zone skyline suggests. Move through the floors in order and compare the objects and everyday scenes with the streets outside. It is a useful first stop before Nantou or Shekou, where parts of that history become visible on foot.
