Why go
Follow this route if you want Catherine of Siena’s story tied to the ground she knew. San Domenico holds the best-known religious connection, while Camporegio shows the drop into the Fontebranda valley. The fountain and the sanctuary then bring the route to water and the former Benincasa home. Allow the full sanctuary stop only if interiors admit visitors; otherwise use the exterior as a shorter pause. Expect a climb back to the central ridge before the exterior of Palazzo Salimbeni. San Francesco is an optional final church if time and access allow. Check church and sanctuary openings before leaving; the outside views, fountain and palace frontage still make a coherent walk when interiors are unavailable.
