Exploring Singapore on foot
Walking links compact districts and reveals street details missed on a train. Tropical heat and sudden rain make the length and timing of a walk important.
Why go
The Singapore River and its quays reward a continuous waterside walk; Chinatown, Little India and Bugis are better explored street by street. For a longer, greener outing, the Southern Ridges are a different commitment. Match the walk to your energy and use rail for the gaps between areas.
Useful to know
Start exposed walks earlier or later in the day and carry water.
Use marked crossings and check the route before attempting a long road crossing.
Plan a nearby indoor stop if heat or rain interrupts the walk.
