Getting around by bus
Buses fill gaps between Singapore’s rail stations and offer a street-level view of the city. They can be slower than rail on a long cross-island journey.
Why go
A bus is especially useful when your destination lies beyond a convenient MRT stop, or when the route itself passes streets you want to see. For a longer journey, frequent stops and traffic make a rail-and-bus combination worth comparing. The old route and night-service lists are too changeable for trip planning.
Useful to know
Check the current route and stop location in a journey planner.
Follow the current tap-in and tap-out instructions for your payment method.
Compare travel times with rail if the bus crosses much of the island.
