Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
Bukit Timah Nature Reserve offers a rainforest climb to Singapore's highest hill. Go for the forest as much as the summit, and expect a more demanding outing than a level park walk.
Why go
A surviving patch of primary rainforest covers the slopes of Bukit Timah Hill, giving the summit walk a setting rare in the city. The reserve was among Singapore's early forest reserves, established in the nineteenth century. Watch the transition from the entrance area into denser forest rather than focusing only on the top.
What to look for
Rainforest trails climb Bukit Timah Hill.
The summit marks Singapore's highest natural point.
Useful to know
Wear shoes suited to a steep forest walk and allow more time than for a flat city path.
Check the reserve's current trail notices before setting out.
The steep trails have more limited wheelchair access than the entrance facilities.
