Singapore Zoo
Singapore Zoo is Mandai's daytime wildlife park, known for naturalistic open habitats and free-ranging orangutans. Give it a substantial daytime slot rather than combining it casually with every neighbouring park.
Why go
The open exhibit approach changes how the animals are seen: moats, planting and habitat design often replace an obvious cage front. Watch for orangutans moving through the trees and compare the different animal habitats. The zoo's location beside the reservoir also explains its greener setting away from central Singapore.
What to look for
Free-ranging orangutans move through the zoo's tree canopy.
Naturalistic habitats use planting and concealed barriers.
Animal presentations add a scheduled focus to the day.
Useful to know
Prioritise the habitats you care about before adding another Mandai park to the same day.
Check current exhibit notices and presentation times before travelling.
Book admission in advance if you need a specific visit date.
