Getting around Greater Sochi
Central Sochi lends itself to short walks, but Greater Sochi spreads along a long, hilly coast. Plan a transfer between districts instead of assuming the waterfront connects them.
A hotel near the sea can still be far from the station or the next sight. Around central Sochi, walking links places such as the railway station and the seafront, while trips toward Adler, Matsesta or Lazarevskoye need more planning. The coastal railway and road connections make district choice as important as straight-line distance.
Useful to know
Check the walking route, slope and nearest stop before booking a stay based on its distance from the beach.
Use current rail and bus timetables for journeys between central Sochi, Adler and the outlying coastal districts.
Leave transfer time between districts; the coast is not one continuous promenade.
