Aqueduct of Segovia

Segovia’s Roman aqueduct rises above Plaza del Azoguejo in stacked granite arches. It is the clearest first orientation point for the old city.

Aqueduct of Segovia

Why go

The two-level arches show the scale of the water system without requiring an indoor visit. Moving from a close view of the stone blocks to the full span reveals how the structure crosses the urban space. It is a strong starting point before walking uphill through Segovia.

What to look for

  • The stacked granite arches.
  • The crossing at Plaza del Azoguejo.

Useful to know

  • View the span from Plaza del Azoguejo, then approach the blocks for their dry-stone detail.
