Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba
Córdoba’s Mosque-Cathedral places a Christian cathedral inside an earlier mosque. The distinctive striped arches make the older structure instantly legible.
The repeated double arches create a spatial rhythm unlike a conventional cathedral, then the later Christian core interrupts that pattern. Walking between the two sections is the reason to enter, not merely to photograph the columns. This layered building is the strongest single introduction to Córdoba’s long religious history.
