Why go
This first-day route uses Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House as its essential opening pair. Continue through Circular Quay before choosing either Sydney Tower for height or St Mary's Cathedral for architecture. The Queen Victoria Building and Strand Arcade form a compact retail-heritage sequence; Darling Harbour is an optional finish. Nine stops are too many for full visits, so protect the harbour morning, choose one central interior, and drop the final waterfront if energy fades. Most central links work on foot, but the bridge crossing changes the day's scale.
