Why go
Manly's appeal begins with the ferry and continues across the narrow peninsula. The Corso links sheltered harbour water to the ocean beach, where surfers, swimmers and walkers share a long curve of sand. It can be busy and commercial, but continuing south toward Shelly Beach quickly adds rock pools, headland vegetation and quieter water.
What to look for
- The ferry approach reveals North Head before entering Manly Cove.
- A broad promenade follows the ocean beach toward quieter southern paths.
Useful to know
- Swim only between patrol flags and follow current surf warnings.
- Plan the ferry return before an evening walk or meal.
