Why go
Dedicated in 1983, the Papeete Tahiti Temple shows a modern strand of Tahiti’s religious architecture. It belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was enlarged and renovated before its 2006 rededication. The building you see today reflects that later work as well as the original design.
What to look for
- A single end spire carries a statue of the angel Moroni.
- The blue roof contrasts with landscaped gardens and winding paths.
Useful to know
- Confirm grounds access directly with the temple before making a special trip to Route de la Fautaua-Titioro.
- Keep sightseeing to the grounds and exterior; entry inside requires eligible Church membership and a current temple recommend.
