Vanalinn, Tallinn's Old Town
Tallinn's walkable Old Town connects merchant Lower Town, Town Hall Square and the fortified rise to Toompea. Its surviving streets make the city's medieval structure clear.
Enter near Viru Gate, follow the lower streets toward Raekoja plats and look for the Town Hall's civic frontage before climbing to Toompea. St Olaf's and St Nicholas anchor opposite parts of the old centre. Walking these places in relation to one another reveals more than a string of isolated façades.

Explore on foot; the short streets reward pauses rather than a fast circuit.
